TYPOGRAPHY GENERATOR

What Is a Brat Font Generator?

A brat font generator lets you type any word or phrase and turn it into the bold, stretched, lowercase typography style from Charli XCX's 2024 album Brat. You control the letter spacing, size, and blur, then download the result as an image. No font file to install. No account needed.

This page focuses on the typography itself. If you want the full editor with backgrounds, colors, and layout options, use Brat Generator instead.

TYPEFACE HISTORY

What Font Is Used in the Brat Style?

The typography on the Brat cover is not a custom or licensed font. According to Fonts In Use and Fonts Meme, the base typeface is Arial, stretched vertically and set in tight lowercase letters, then rendered at low resolution to create the blurred, unfinished look. The cover was designed by Brent David Freaney at Special Offer Inc., with art direction from Imogen Strauss and Charli XCX herself.

Arial is a standard system font already installed on most computers, which is part of why the look was easy to copy and spread quickly online. The distinct part is not the letterforms but how they are stretched, spaced, and blurred together.

A separate typeface, ABC Rom Mono from the type foundry Dinamo, appears on the vinyl labels and inner sleeve, but it is not the typography most people are trying to recreate when they search for the Brat font.

Because Arial is a proprietary typeface owned by Monotype, this tool does not offer a font file for download. It generates a finished text image using this style, which you can download and use directly, without needing to install or license any font yourself.

The tool works the same way on desktop and mobile browsers.

TYPOGRAPHY SETTINGS

Letter Spacing, Weight, and Blur Explained

Three settings do most of the work in matching this typography style.

Letter spacing
The original cover uses tight, almost touching spacing between lowercase letters. Reducing spacing on this tool brings your text closer to that look.
Font weight and stretch
A bold, slightly stretched vertical letterform is what gives the style its blocky, condensed feel. This tool lets you adjust both independently.
Blur strength
A light blur softens hard edges without making the text unreadable. Too much blur and your words become hard to read on a small screen, which defeats the point for anything you plan to post.

Small adjustments to any of these three settings change the final look more than changing the text itself, so it is worth testing a few combinations before you download.

TOOL COMPARISON

Brat Font Generator vs. Brat Generator vs. Meme Generator

These tools solve different problems. A brat font generator, like this one, focuses only on getting the typography right: spacing, weight, and blur. Brat Generator adds backgrounds, colors, and full layout control for a finished cover style image. A meme generator is built for fast, funny captions rather than matching a specific typographic style. If you already know you want the classic green background and full cover look, Brat Generator will save you a step. If typography is your only concern, this page is built for that.

POPULAR USES

Where This Typography Style Gets Used

People use this font style for TikTok captions, Instagram story text, playlist cover titles, and profile picture text overlays. Because the letterforms stay legible even after blurring, the style works well at small sizes on a phone screen, which is part of why it spread across short form video platforms so quickly after the album's release.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Arial, stretched vertically and rendered at low resolution, according to Fonts In Use. It is a standard system font, not a custom or paid typeface.
No. Arial is a proprietary typeface owned by Monotype. This tool generates a text image in this style, which you can download and use directly, without needing a font file.
The blur is part of the original design, not a rendering error. A light blur setting gets closest to the source look while keeping your text readable.
Not quite. Matching the look also requires the right letter spacing, stretch, and blur, which most design tools do not set by default. This tool has all three pre-tuned to match the original.
No. This tool is independent and not affiliated with Charli XCX, Atlantic Records, or her management. It is built in the style of the Brat album cover typography for fans and creators to use.
The image you generate is yours to download and use. This tool is not affiliated with Charli XCX or Atlantic Records. If you plan to use an image for a commercial project, check your own local rules on style and trademark use, since laws vary by country and use case.
